Kiesha always made me feel seen. I didn’t know for sure that I had real beauty inside of me or had the ability to be “special” but that didn’t last for long. You can always tell the difference when you’re being pushed with love and passion instead of with fear, and feeling that always made me realize that I had to be special if someone was rooting for me this much. I’m grateful for it to this day. So I’ll never stop, and will continue to root for others so that they know they have it in them too

Greer Reed

ChiArts Dance Department Head

In these unprecedented times, it is of the utmost importance that young aspiring artists are supported holistically as they begin their journey to becoming the whole dancer. The fact is that our young people are getting farther and farther away from cultural reflections of the many positive aspects of their history and life. They are getting farther and farther away from healthy self-concepts, values, self-love, family, and community. Ms. Kiesha Lalama has taken on the responsibility and challenge to make sure they stay connected. Her Professional Development curriculum puts students at the center of learning and enables them to walk their own road. The bridge that she has created between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual allows Ms. Lalama and students to explore strategies that meet their needs and investigate what those needs are together.

Kathi Halbert

Ohio Dance Masters

I've worked with educators for over 50 years and I've never met anyone that has more heart and dedication to the art of dance. She is an inspiration to all those around her and can motivate young dancers to excel and truly believe in themselves.  Her life goal is to instill the love of dance, confidence and excellence in every dancer she encounters.  When I think of Kiesha, it puts a smile on my face and warms my heart.
