Torque is a dance centered around complex issues. Set in Fall of 2011, the state of this country was and continues to be unstable at best. With political, social, and economical issues surrounding most conversations, the piece invites the dancers to engage the audience as they execute their frustrations, ideas and thoughts. These issues become very personal and provoke us to take a moment to better understand our place, and more importantly how to make change for the better within that place.
Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change - this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress.
